Fune's Refuge

Fune's Refuge is the largest encampment on Iki island and home to it's raiders and those fleeing the Eagles invasion. The area is only accessible through secret entrances that the player can unlock and open throughout the course of the story. The area has several state changes as the player successfully defeats the Eagles troops across the island. The first state is closed off with most of the town blocked from leaving the area. After completing more of the main story, the Bokken Duel ring opens, the main entrance becomes available, and trade resumes in the area. This area also acts as the starting point for The Black Hand Rikku Mythic mission as well as the Pirate Queen's mission.

I worked with Mak Malovic on this space and its multiple states. Mak did the initial layout and first pass on the art and design support. I picked up the location and did more layout work, set dressing, final polish, and updates to the location as a whole including the Bokken Duel area. Mak Malovic and Lisa Liao were responsible for sculpting the large overhang rock.
